Sometimes you must come hard on your expressions to emphasize your aversion to something that wants to be established or even consolidate in the ranks of the music you love. The tough one does not mean bitter or mocking. After all, every effort made by any band or artist took a lot of time and effort. Both valuable as my own time as of our readers. Attic introduced themselves about five years ago with the simply good “The Invocation” that if you saw it as an ode to King Diamond and Mercyful Fate you could tolerate it as long as it played because it was well written but without a trace of personal element inside. In the year 2017, I just can’t handle listening to second-gen King Diamond in the vocals, third-class Denner / Shermann and Andy LaRoque in guitars and compositions for an anniversary Mercyful Fate or King Diamond re-release (at best), I think it’s just too much. I honestly do not know where it is addressed to, in what fan base, since even the die-hards of the Danish gods’ will find it hard to deal with such an unruly rip-off job.
