For those of you who have been living under a rock (or couldn’t care less about metal in the larger media) I will provide a short summary. May 7, 2013, As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis was arrested for planning a hit on his ex-wife. Suddenly the metalcore act was worldwide news and the whole story seemed like it was taken from a Hollywood script. Fast forward to yesterday: Lambesis is sentenced for 6 years in prison. Shortly before yesterday’s verdict Lambesis had a series of interviews with Ryan J. Downey of Alternative Press. In the interviews Downey and Lambesis discuss events leading up to the arrest and everything unfolding afterwards. Lambesis talks about the adoption of his children and his personal insecurities that lead him to pick up steroids and get in touch with the darker side of the gym culture. After an elaboration on his switch to atheism and the hypocrisy of some so-called Christian bands, the story turns to the separation of his wife and estrangement from his children. Next, attention is given to the events that lead up to Lambesis consideration to murder his wife and his arrest by an undercover cop. Finally, Lambesis talks about his current attitude towards the prospect of imprisonment and the relationship with his former band members and their new project Wovenwar (who have already released the first material of their new project with Shane Blay of Oh, Sleeper on vocals).

This might well be the only glimpse we get inside the mind of the As I Lay Dying frontman and is definitely worth a read. Read the entire interview at this location.
