“Angel Of Light” is undoubtedly 2019’s best record. Every time it spins and for as long that this lasts, it may creates an even more risky to claim illusion, that this is the best album of the 10’s. Of course I’m talking about N.W.O.B.H.M. and Heavy Metal genre. Few works can argue about this statement and funny it is that their previous effort, 2012’s “As Above, So Below” is probably one of the prevailing and in the top of the shortlist to do so (or either Satan’s last album). Wise enough these guys, are stubborn enough to avoid modern, glossier production and stylistic aesthetics that would turn off a good portion of their fan base. Time has stopped in 1981. As it should be. As great artists have the power and the curse to do so. Time is the ongoing sequence of events taking place. The past, present and future. Time in physics is defined by its measurement: time is what a clock reads. In classical, non-relativistic physics it is a scalar quantity and, like length, mass, and charge, is usually described as a fundamental quantity. In Heavy Metal Time is a repressive formula of coercing humans in order to make them act and behave like machines or slaves. “Angel Of Light” is picking up right where Angel Witch left off, as if the past 32 years between their monumental debut and “As Above, So Below”, never happened…So after 7 years they return into the exact same pattern to create another masterpiece of pure Heavy Metal. No fillers here, just killers, as every riff has its purpose, every melody the magic to haunt you and every lyric the power to seduce you. Angel Witch as a unit has a unique style, which has a characteristic dynamic range. As a result, a lot of the verse structures and the chorus sequences in these songs feel pretty awesome and remarkable, as Kevin Heybourne’s tone is definitely more than just pleasant upon the ear, even after more than 40 years, that I would use the word “mythical” to describe it. Eight songs and 47 minutes later, after you push play (for the 25th time!!!) I can’t find any other words to convince you, I only feel the obligation to suggest you to go to the nearest record shop or to pre-order it, as the release date is in almost a week (release date: 01.11.2019)!!!
