Attacker were always a cult act, releasing 6 decent Power metal albums since 1985 and while the first two of them were out in the glorious ‘80s and despite the fact that they are definitely strong albums still their best moments seem to be their 2 last efforts that were cut in 2013 and before 2 years. Of course I can’t name any other band that has this characteristic! Probably guitarist Mike Benetatos that took charge of the songwriting and Bobby “Leather Lungs” Lucas that sings like there’s no tomorrow (since 2013) have the lion’s share for this triumphant revival. 2013’s Giants of Canaan and 2016’s Sins of the World have nothing to be jealous from 1985’s Battle at Helm’s Deep or 1988’s The Second Coming and their new EP entitled Armor of the Gods continues this tremendous winning streak. We can hear 4 new compositions and 2 live tracks (two of their greatest songs ever “World Destroyer” and “Glen of the Ghost”) recorded at last year’s Up the Hammers Festival in Athens, Greece. US Power Metal was always about the perfect combination of strength and melody and New Jersey’s finest can’t be wrong, not this time! Jag Panzer, Vicious Rumors, and Liege Lord fans will certainly love this material that offers a brave dose of charging riffs, ferocious leads, aggressive yet melodic vocals and solid rhythms in almost 34 minutes of pure USPM.
