Genre: Death Metal
Label: Memento Mori
Classic sounding death metal is on fire in the underground scene worldwide. Bands come out from every side of the planet showing their respect and dedication to the old school death metal dogma as it was played back in the early ’90s and CHURCH OF DISGUST is a band of this category.
Having released a great demo (“Invocation of Putrid Worship” in 2012), it was about time for their debut. Under the shield of Memento Mori (one of the greatest labels in death metal nowadays), C.O.D. are presenting us “Unworldly Summoning”, a really good death/doom album. Inspired by the repugnance of Autopsy and the gloom of Soulburn, the lads show us that they know exactly what is needed to play easy-listening brutal music. When they slow down, even primitive Cathedral, the “Forest of Equilibrium” season, may come in mind. “Unworldly Summoning” is not a “killer” album but surely is a first strike which reveals a band that could be a really hot prospect for the future in death metal.
