The Athenian metal band Daylight Misery, inspired by the loss of their beloved friend Dimitris Theodoropoulos (member of the progressive metal group Rex Mundi from Thessaloniki) on May 31, 2021 from cancer, decided to create a song inspired by his history and what he has experienced in its last years entitled “Cancerworm“. The purpose of the song is through it to raise money to be donated to the parent association for children with neoplastic disease “Flame” in his memory. All information on how to donate is in the description of the song on YouTube.

“Cancerworm” features some well-known heavy metal artists. More specifically, in the guest vocals is Aaron Stainthorpe from British band of the legendary MY DYING BRIDE but also Sakis Tolis, founder, guitarist and leader of the largest metal band in Greece, ROTTING CHRIST. In addition, the guitar solo of the song is performed by the Greek guitarist Gus G. who has made a brilliant career with both his core band, FIREWIND, as well as with his personal releases. Note that the period 2009 – 2017, he was the guitarist next to OZZY OSBOURNE (singer of Black Sabbath), releasing the full-length album “Scream” with him.

Vassilis Mazaris is on the vocals, Angelos Malisovas in the bass, while in the guitar is Nicos B. The lyrics are written by Vassilis Mazaris and the music by Nico B. The song also features Haris Pazaroulas on counter bass, Costas Panagiotou of the Greek-British metal band PANTHEIST on keyboards and Vassilis Papanikolakis on drums as a session member. The recording / mixing / mastering song was made by George Bokos at Grindhouse Studios Athens while the lyric video created by Giannis Kaimakamis and the Nightwatchers. Its graphics were edited by Giannis Toussas for Graphic No Jutsu.

Donations will be made from Thursday 25 November 2021 to Monday 31 January 2022.
