Άλλη μια χρονιά τελείωσε με πληθώρα κυκλοφοριών να κατακλύζουν την αγορά και να γίνονται αντικείμενο πόθου των αναγνωστών μας και φίλων του ακραίου ήχου. Ελπίζουμε τα περισσότερα να τα καλύψαμε σαν περιοδικό. Ακολουθούν οι λίστες των συντακτών και η 12άδα των δίσκων που βγήκε μέσω της ειδικής βαθμολογίας που ακολουθούμε.
Σε κάθε λίστα ο πρώτος δίσκος παίρνει 17 (12 + 5 μπόνους) βαθμούς, ο δεύτερος 11, ο τρίτος 10 κ.ο.κ. ενώ κάθε επανεμφάνιση σε λίστα το άλμπουμ παίρνει έξτρα μπόνους 5 πόντους.
- Blood Incantation – Hidden History of the Human Race 76
“Γουστάρω πολύ όταν ένα άλμπουμ δημιουργεί ηχοτόπια που φέρνουν στο μυαλό μου βιβλία που αγαπώ. Το “Hidden History of the Human Race”ανήκει σε αυτή την ειδική κατηγορία δίσκων. Ακόμα και το εξώφυλλό του με τον πίνακα του Bruce Pennington από την δεκαετία του ’70 με τον εξωγήινο και τα πολυγωνικά σχήματα στο μπαγκράουντ με κάνουν να σκέφτομαι αρκετά βιβλία επιστημονικής φαντασίας που έχω διαβάσει όλα αυτά τα χρόνια. Φανταστείτε πως το συγκρότημα είχε επιλέξει τον συγκεκριμένο πίνακα για μελλοντική τους δουλειά πριν ακόμα ηχογραφηθεί το ντεμπούτο τους Starspawn. Μου θυμίζει ένα από τα καλύτερα βιβλία επιστημονικής φαντασίας, το Childhood’s End από το 1953. Σε αυτό το βιβλίο του Arthur Clarke η ιστορία ακολουθεί την ειρηνική εισβολή της Γης από τους μυστήριους Overlords, η άφιξη των οποίων ξεκινάει δεκαετίες ουτοπίας κάτω από έμμεση εξωγήινη τυραννία με κόστος την ταυτότητα και τον πολιτισμό του ανθρώπου. Αυτός ο ειρηνικός εξωγήινος που μπορούμε να δούμε στο εξώφυλλο φαντάζομαι δεν θα προκαλέσει τίποτα από αυτά και πιθανόν θα βοηθήσει τους Blood Incantation να κερδίσουν ευρεία αποδοχή για την καινούρια τους προσπάθεια. Ή και όχι. Βασικά, πιστεύω ότι δεν θα πάρουν και μεγάλο κομμάτι από την πίτα, καθώς το ντεθ μέταλ δεν φτιάχτηκε για αρένες και τσαρτς. Μια μικρή εμφάνιση ενός κορυφαίου συγκροτήματος σε χολιγουντιανή κωμωδία είναι η μοναδική μέινστριμ περγαμηνή του ιδιώματος… Αλλά το δεύτερο άλμπουμ των Blood Incantation έχει αυτή την ποιότητα που κάνει έναν δίσκο μοναδικό και διαχρονικό. Αν και έχει μόνο 4 κομμάτια, τρέχει για περίπου 35 λεπτά, οπότε μπορείτε να φανταστείτε πόσο σημαντική είναι η δομή των κομματιών που έχει φτιαχτεί με σοφία για να αποφευχθεί η επανάληψη και η βαρεμάρα. Σίγουρα τα προγκρέσιβ στοιχεία που συμπεριλαμβάνονται στο άλμπουμ βοηθάνε τα τραγούδια να αναπνεύσουν και να ακούγονται φρέσκα. Όχι, δεν τολμάω να τους ονομάσω Pink Floyd του ντεθ μέταλ, αλλά σίγουρα μπορούν να υποστηρίξουν αυτή την πλευρά της μουσικής τους χωρίς να χάνουν σε καφρίλα και αγριότητα. Αν πρέπει να βρούμε ένα συγκρότημα με το οποίο να μοιάζει η μουσική τους, αυτοί είναι οι Morbid Angel και οι λαβυρινθώδεις συνθέσεις τους και οι περίπλοκες τεχνικές τους. Το ντεμπούτο ήταν το πρώτο χτύπημα, ένα είδος προειδοποίησης ότι ήρθαν για να μείνουν. Τώρα το συγκρότημα έχει ένα λόγο να καθίσει στον θρόνο του ντεθ μέταλ. Πιστεύω πως είχαν κάποιου είδους εξωγήινη βοήθεια γι’ αυτό… αλλά επίσης άλλοι παράγοντες όπως οι σφιχτές κιθάρες και οι τόνοι από ριφφ, το ριβέρμπ και το ντιλέι που δεν λείπουν ποτέ ή οι αμέτρητες αλλαγές και παύσεις, το εξαιρετικό παίξιμο στα ντραμς που είναι πεντακάθαρο και ακούγεται τόσο αναλογικό που θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς πως έρχεται από τη δεκαετία του ’70. Μιλώντας για τεχνοτροπία εκείνης της δεκαετίας, η δεύτερη πλευρά του δίσκου είναι ουσιαστικά ένα κομμάτι (πάρτε μια ανάσα πριν διαβάσετε τον τίτλο… “Awakening from the Dream of Existence to the Multidimensional Nature of Our Reality (Mirror of the Soul)”). Αυτό το άλμπουμ είναι ο τέλειος συνδυασμός φουτουριστικής αισθητικής και αναλογικής προσέγγισης, το “Hidden History of the Human Race” είναι η απαραίτητη αγορά της χρονιάς. Ζήστε το!“
