“… high sound levels (more than 80 decibels) might cause permanent impairment of hearing”, is actually the rest of the phrase that completes the title of the third 1000mods album. Since 2011 with Super Van Vacation, I have repeatedly exposed myself to this band and I must admit that I don’t care about the possible after-effects (stop listening to other music for a month after each of their albums is out). In fact, I enjoy some of them. I enjoy the waiting for a new 1000mods album. It’s a kind of consolation. The music making and “orchestration” of the songs continues to be phenomenal. The album grabs you by the balls till the end, and with songs like Loose or Groundhog Day you feel an extra hedonic touch. The downtuned guitars are still here flavored this time with psychedelic Pink Floyd spices and Peter Green aromas, but the mammothian sound of “Repeated Exposure to…” is what allows 1000mods to reach Sky-Valley-quality levels. The album is mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, Corrosion of Conformity, Nails, Beastmilk, Obituary, Yob etc.) and the sound is fuckin’ gigantic. The ‘mods have established a tradition of closing their albums with super van heavy awesomely sick trippy slow songs and they follow it religiously. So, after Super Van Vacation and Reverb of the New World, please put your hands together and welcome Into the Spell.
The former King of the road said you moved too slow. The new King of the road says you are moving just fine.
