How am I supposed to critique the new AC / DC’s album without getting their fans to wanna kick my ass? After that quite good “Black Ice”, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, our ends did not meet. It’s not that the record is not good. It’s fine. There are quite good songs included. I guess I just have great expectations from AC / DC. The result is, however, that the disk doesn’t stir us up. Okay, with a few beers and good company, it will be a joy when you listen to the songs in a bar. You’ll wiggle a little bit. But where is that AC / DC with those bursting songs that make you wanna trash the place? Background soft musical carpet for pop-rock shops that keep their music volumes down so that the patrons can talk to each other. I want a record for filthy rockers; I want a record that could destroy my liver, a disk to be afraid to put in the car, for I don’t want to get a speeding ticket. What can I say; it’s a very “civilized” disk.
As for the compositions, if I have to pick some, these are the “Rock or Bust”, “Baptism by Fire”, “Got some rock & roll thunder” and “Play Ball”. Now you’ll tell me, that’s it?? Of course not. For any other hard rock band this would be a great disc, but for AC / CD it ain’t enough. Of course, as we are talking about musicians with vast experience, whatever songs they add to their live setlist, overall they would perform unimaginable tracks. Hopefully, there’ll be another visit to our country, because on stage all these will be transformed. That happens to the big bands. As for the rank… a simple 4. Now, of course, when our chief editor reads this, he will say I’m crazy. Four, means it’s a good album. And who told you that it is not? Pasticcio my friend, even if it’s moderately cooked, still if kicks those beans’ asses made by other bands. Oops, I’m hungry again.
