This release of Afterbirth, is divided into two parts. In the first part it contains material from the past of the band (demo, live etc.), and in the essential part, their recent demo released a few months ago. I will not deal at all with the first, as apart from a historical value it does not have anything to comment upon. Essence and substance is in the present and what can the band do now. Regarding the essence then, that is the demo of 2014, I found that although the basic characteristic of Afterbirth is the brutality that characterizes the brutal death metal they play, however, it is not missing melodic parts or slow movements that reveal a more slam trend. Massive guitars, flattening bass, blast beats and guttural growls, as in any band of the kind that respects itself, but with the difference that here the level is high. Tracks that I distinguish “Maggots In Her Smile” and “Vomit On Humanity”
The fact that in so many years they have not managed to do a big step as a band, where in the beginning they had created a very good name in the underground, it is definitely telling us something. I hope they’ll continue because possess the game; if they actually work and are consistent in their path then we will talk about a big name in the world of brutal death metal.
