From 2007 till today, the Alestorm’s pirate ship sails unruly, with alcohol, zombies, rum, ducks and pirates. And if all this doesn’t make sense, it’s because you haven’t indulged yet in the magic world of Alestorm. They are playing folk/power metal but they have also influences in their music from heavy, thrash and death metal. They are playing very well and that’s why we can’t say that Alestorm is another jock band. It’s a band that jokes around a lot but it’s definitely something more than that. Certainly, lyrically speaking they don’t take anything seriously, fortunately however the same does not apply to their music. There is a variety of sounds as well as many danceable and addictive tunes. Where they are really standing out are the vocal lines and choruses. It only takes one listen to hum them. Without wanting to malign, the listening of their music, Alestorm show their true potential in live concerts too. It is the band that will stir up thousands of people at a festival and make them drink and dance. That’s how I understand the release of “Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum”. It’s a very good album which does not hide surprises and continues musically from where they left off with the “Curse of the Crystal Coconut”. Mainly however, it is the occasion to play live again and add some new songs in their setlist. Probably among them will be “Μagellan’s Expedition” and “P.A.R.T.Y.”. In each case, we are lucky who will play in Greece in a few days, now that they still have this awesome energy and rousing mood. I have seen them before at festival abroad and i encourage anyone who likes their music, to go to see them live. Do not hesitate for any reason. We are listening to the new album and getting ready to enjoy them on stage.
