Ancst since 2011 that were established (as Angst even for just one year as soon changed it to Ancst) always fusing the best of black metal, hardcore punk, metalcore, death metal and bits of grindcore in their music. As experimental as all brave artists are, they blended diverse sub-genres in their discography (along with the aforementioned sub genres also include noise, dark ambient and even soundtrack/film music). After all their moniker seems rather ironic (the word “Angst” in German -unlike the Germanism in English- does not explicitly denote severe existential fear and inner turmoil, but is the common term for fear in general) as wisely the Germans never showed fear on combining miscellaneous elements and influences in their releases. Speaking of releases “Zorn” is their 10th EP, that when are added to 4 full lengths, 7 split, 2 compilations and one demo, makes their discography definitely impressive! An EP featuring 4 songs of pure hate and despair. A trip to their roots that puts Black Metal foundations on the spotlight while washing off the hardcore element or crust parts, staying although a passionate and full of energy release. This is the first time Ancst uses its mother tongue german for all the lyrics. “Zorn” is out through Ancst’s own label Yehonala Tapes in an edition of 300 10” records. Additionally Tom Schmidt (their mastermind handling all instruments and vocals) has made a die-hard-edition of 30 double 5” lathe cuts he cut himself on a japanese vinyl mono toy recorder to bring you the trve anti-audiophile necro sound. ATTENTION! This is a 100% “anti-record”. It’s not a pressed vinyl record and is highly experimental. It will not play on automatic or half-automatic turn tables. The sound is in mono and it sounds very very lo-fi. A must buy for all, not for the audiophiles!!!
