Everyone is talking about the difficult third album, but these Swedes doesn’t seem to worry about numbers, sales and nothing more than their heavier than fuck doom metal. In fact as the band celebrates its 10th anniversary they release a new third full length album after 4 years of silence taking a deep dive into their past. Even the title of the disc is more like a statement: ‘Magna Est Vis Siugnah’ or ‘the great power of Siugnah’ where Siugnah is anagram for Anguish. A band full of confidence I suppose feeling they have to get back to their roots, remembering why they even started the band and re-introduce itself to its audience. The songs are heavy, atmospheric and mournful. There’s tons of gloomy low-tuned guitars and throaty vocals while the couplets have a variety bringing in mind sometimes Paradise Lost and other times Candlemass or even Bathory (the epic-Viking era of course). Their previous effort ‘Mountain’ (2014) was a triumph of 80’s Doom (featuring elements of Trouble and St. Vitus) where guitars was a highlight by its own. Now in ’Magna Est Vis Siugnah’ the band faced another change on guitars. But thankfully most things have been done in the same way as on ’Mountain’. A trivia for the weirdos unlike the other two albums that have been recorded in D-tuning, ’Magna Est Vis Siugnah’ was recorded in C-tuning to give it a heavier and more bombastic sound. In only 6 songs that last from 6 to 11 and 1/2 minutes you get the right amount of sorrow and melancholy for the winter…Best Moments: ‘Blessed Be The Beast’, ‘Elysian Fields of Fire’ and ‘Our Daughters Banner’.
