Now that’s a great piece of work by a very talented musician, Antonis Tzavaras (Group Therapy, Seventh Sign). Melodic metal, which even though it sounds quite fresh, it is rooted in the ‘80s. It reminded me of Fifth Angel, without being so much alike. “Steroidizzy” is an excellent choice for the worshippers of the genre; powerful, with excellent guitars and great vocals by Manos Fatsis (Devilusion, ex-Dark Nova). The refrains, which are the most important feature on this kind of tracks for me, are easy to remember, without being simple. This EP has 4 compositions; “Dawn of Fire” and “Inner Fire” are both great tracks. Especially the second one at some points it’s destructive. “Let me Fly” is a nice ballad, with incredible vocals. The EP closes with the instrumental “Steroidizzy”. Usually, I’m not a fan of instrumental tracks, since most of the times are an opportunity for guitarists’ unstoppable rambling with their guitars and useless skills show off. “Steroidizzy” is, however, good and could actually be a regular track in which the themes of the guitar are its actual voice.
Overall, it’s a well-worked on material. I hope for it to be a foretaste of a full length release, since this EP shows that there are good ideas. As far as I know it is only available for digital download, but I guess it will soon be released on CD. Friends of the genre should give it a go; I don’t want to read some years after “dude, these were good, etc, etc, but we didn’t notice them cause of the big interests”.
