The weakness I have for the bands of the Polish scene has many times become the trigger to present in here new diamonds I discover while searching for new albums. This time I have in my hands a record that made me think about a lot about its quality and you will understand what I mean later on. First of all, let me say that I am referring to Apatheia, who in October 2018 released their one and only record, a full length album entitled “Konstelacja Dziur” through Gods Ov War Productions. As objective elements we can list the following: we are talking about a well-crafted release, which sounds like Black Metal as defined in Scandinavia grafted with that cold and almost inhuman atmosphere that Polish bands often carry. Fast compositions, which, however, in many places “break”, so as not to become boring and monotonous, while there are moments when an unbridled primitivism prevails (intensified by the spooky vocals – in fact all the lyrics are written in their native language therefore for those who are not familiar with the language, the experience becomes even more eerie). A stereotypically organized work in general, consisting of a classic mix of the members’ influences. Here comes the doubt I mentioned at the beginning; yes, “Konstelacja Dziur” is easily heard and it would be a good addition to your collection, but on the other hand it doesn’t have to offer something really shocking, different or innovative. It’s worth listening to, but I think it won’t fascinate you all the way.
