Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden’s Speed freaks Armory started out in 2012 and have been delivering top-notch hyper-speed metal ever since. Their crucial third album entitled “Mercurion” comes after two demos and two full lengths, their highly acclaimed debut album “World Peace… Cosmic War’ that was released via High Roller Records in 2016, and their sophomore effort, “The Search”, that was released in July2018 via High Roller again. The new album is actually a sci-fi concept album. And this is the main reason that makes their new work different from their previous ones. It’s not only the lyrics that have a certain course but also musically speaking as Armory follow a motif in order to fit the verses making the music more dramatic. A bit darker I would add and dynamic too. The concept idea sounds ambitious and it works fine as a result. The music (space) journey starts for their fans upon the Mercurion starship with amazing hooks, hyper speed riffs and explosive solos. The song structures are brilliantly stated with some small interesting surprises here and there. A plethora of riffs upon riffs in every song is never boring when you can manage the amount of the information that the listener gets to be filtered and enjoyable. Armory’s speedy rage seems not yielding in strength, severity, or determination. The unrelenting fast as fuck guitars lead the way for a crescendo of furious rhythms that the thick bass lines and pummeling drums skirt while the screaming vocals with the high-pitched cries travels you to the ultimate Speed/Heavy Metal journey of your life with hymns like “The Hunters From Beyond”, “Deep Space Encounter”, “Journey Into Infinity” and “Wormhole Escape”.
