Arrayan Path – Chronicles Of Light

Genre: Power Metal
Country: Cyprus
Label: Pitch Black Records
Year: 2016

Even though I became familiar with the band with their last album and especially because Tsamis picked Nick for Warlord, I realize that we’re dealing with the most exceptional group there is nowadays, along with Solitary Sabred from Cyprus. Of course there are some more, but these two are a click above the rest.

In their new record, Arrayan Path build on power metal forms with the epic element scattered in a few pieces. I read somewhere that they were preparing a double album, with one being a heavy / power styled and the other following completely epic forms. The plan didn’t turn out as they hoped for, so this effort has been postponed for now.

The album starts dynamically with the power – oriented metal bomb “Solomon Seed” and continues with “Gabriells Rising” and “The Distorted Looking Glass”, which show that the band is in a very good path synthetically and Nicolas is using a variety of vocal lines, creating great impressions. “Lex Talionis” is the most epic and the greatest moment of the record with its intro reminding you of Iron Maiden. Apart form that, “Ignore The Pain” has some nice slow solos reminiscent of the ‘80s. “December” could easily be a tribute to Crimson Glory’s “Lost Reflection”, especially toward its end. Definitely, the biggest hit of “Chronicles Of Light” is “Scorpio” which is a cover of “Scorpio’s Sign” originally performed by Stefanos Korkolis (the lyrics were re – written in English). In addition, we shouldn’t forget to mention the glorious cover artwork.

Arrayan Path have returned and it’s time for them to agitate the waters of the scene.
