I don’t know where to start with the Atrophy reunion!!! I honestly don’t know what to write and the reason is that I won’t be objective!!! Atrophy was one of those cases of the generation of the late 80s early 90s bands of the thrash scene that released 2 records, with difficulty and a third.. they were most of them, very good bands, with good musicians, quite good productions, by far , politically, more aware than their predecessors.. They were also friends close to the crossover/hardcore scene… and we see this in Great Britain as well… with several, unfortunately, underestimated bands! When I hear.that old , let me say cult bands, come back with a new album,,, I kind of grumble… but in the end I’m speechless… sometimes that makes me happy…In the case of Atrophy…I was speechless… before I put it on to listen, I thought….another old band that recorded, surely a metallica record!! And yet NO.. even if I don’t want to insult Atrophy, the record could be a lost Testament record.. and I say this in a good way!!!But let’s go back to this new band, with remaining original member, singer Brian Zimmerman, and after the ’20 reunion, surround with masterful and skilled, passionate musicians who can get the job done, release all of your frustration and fury in the form of a good old thrash metal album. Addictive riffs from the beginning…vocals full of rage…a session that doesn’t leave you a moment to catch your breath…and make an image…being in a mosh pit while songs from the record are playing…As for the lyrics..they didn’t change their stance….polarized to the core…Pointing social and human nature problems…! Maybe they are thrashing more than their first records…with perfect solos, especially in the absolute favorite “Punishment for all”…Strong moments too…”Distortion” “Close my eyes” and “Five minutes” til suicide”Although I survived 4 times…always songs with the word “suicide” ring in my heart!!! A lot of people..believe to recorded a thrash metal record…is easy…and that the musicians of the idiom don’t even know how to play very well…! BIG mistake…it’s an idiom.in which.you have to be totally committed..steady on the pieces you write..have a technique..songs should be properly laid out so that the listener doesn’t get tired..and in combination with an angry singer.. the result is, simply, unbelievable and in the case of Atrophy, where Zimmerman sings, as if narrating, you really feel that this record was made personally for each one of us… for what we live.. on a daily basis base..the politicians who suck up to the last drop of our blood..to the personal struggle of everyone to make ends meet! I sincerely wish to the band long prosperity and continue to surprise us with records like ‘Asylum’. Finally..I would like, as I was THRILLED, with the record..and I have listened to it at least 20 times on repeat, to dedicate this review…to the Metal Invader team, who accepted me to the people of Palestine and survivors who struggling cause of mental health issues
