Do you play in a Greek metal band? And nag because you find it difficult? The scene doesn’t support you? The venues lack good sound? Aren’t there nice sofas in the rehearsal room and the toilets are not as clean as they are at your home where your mommy cleans after you? CUT THE CRAP YOU MORONS!
You want to talk about difficulties? This is a metal band from Beirut, Lebanon; where bombs destroy your neighborhood or the neighborhood of the record store that distributes your CD. Do you live in a war zone, as your fathers did and as your children will? What did you say? Scene? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wise up, keep rehearsing, work hard and stop the whining. Blakyum, despite any adversities, released a wonderful, well – crafted work that will appeal to both those who dig modern sounds and to the most traditional thrashers. The outcome reminds me of Testament, after their restart era; bang your head in other words. Both clean and hard vocals, Gillette guitars, melodies grafted with Arabic flavors, though avoid imagining quaint stuff. Everything’s perfectly matched in the compositions.
‘The Line of Fear’ is an absolute winner, as it progresses and changes wins your favor. I won’t pick any particular songs, since I liked the record in its entirety. I heard influences from Annihilator, Slayer, Testament, Megadeth and Sepultura – small dosages but filtered by fresh eyes and appetite. Highly recommended. Production needed a thing or two, however in a general sense it is good, since it gives space to the guitars and percussion. In fact, I didn’t expect it to be that good. I’ll listen to it now again!
