One can imagine what to expect from a band that goes under the name Black Tomb. Doom-y, sludge-y death metal is the main dish served in this album. They’re from New England-U.S.A. and this release is their first full length album. If you are a fan of slow and haunting sound framed with “rotten” vocals, then this album is for you. 8 tracks following the same pattern that according to my opinion are influenced by Electric Wisard, old Paradise Lost, and why not, Black Sabbath (just to name a few of the bands that came to mind). Truth be told, this is an album that one must listen to plenty of times to be able to have a strong opinion on it. Heavy riffs is the secret of Black Tomb and lead guitars that kind of resemble Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride.. Slow and haunting drumming and solid vocals, that’s responding well to it’s call, supported by a simple, yet very fitting in my opinion with the concept of the album, artwork. The tracks that stick out to me the most are Under The Pine, Swine, Draped In Flesh, Lust And Saturn & Church On The Hill (the lengthiest track of the album). Nice, slow and torturous…You should check Black Tomb out, you won’t regret it.
