Tui, in Galicia, is a small town near the northern borders of Portugal with Spain, where Blast Off is based at. Their music style is old school thrash with influences from the American scene of the genre. The band belongs in the new batch of thrash bands, following the trend: modern sound – old school songwriting. We’re talking about a compact band, with fair technical skills and clear musical orientation. In the four songs featured in the EP the band offers us well-played, entertaining thrash, mostly played at fast paces. We should mention also the fine work displayed at the album’s cover. However, a main ingredient that would rocket off the band’s music is missing in my opinion. That is some refrains with firmness and energy that could stick in your mind and urge you to sing along. Overall, this is a worth checking debut, which the thrash enthusiasts will enjoy, always with the escort of a chilled beer….
