From 2011, Bonehunter have more or less 10 releases included demos, EPs,splits etc. Evil Triumphs Again is however the first full length of the band. They describe themselves as devil metal punk band and this is what they are really. Motorhead, Venom and British punk meet with the early Scandinavian black metal with lots of thrash and death elements. So far so good, but when you listen to the album a couple times you‘ll put it on the side .Evil Triumphs Again is on the same train with a lots of albums of the same genre, on the same time and doesn’t have what it takes to stand out. There are songs like Symbol Of The Curse and Acid Fuck that stand out and Burning Skulls which is probably the best of the bunch and brings in mind the best moments of Midnight. But these are just a few and they can’t lift the album’s level much higher. On the other hand we listen to a band that has all these influences cooked up nicely and presents a more multi directional material with some classic metal riffs like the one in Deliver Us To Evil. They seem like they have it in their hands but they can’t use it. For a first album this is a good effort but they could do even better. Sharpen your axes gentlemen we expect more from you.
