Many times I have said that the sheer volume of new releases nowadays is so big that, unfortunately, many new albums are released without us noticing them. One of these releases in 2015 was Christfuck’s debut EP.
A trio that originally started as a one man’s band in 2013 by Yngve (Dismal Chant, Mortuus Sum, ex-W.E.B. and more), who also started composing some of the tracks. He was soon joined by Vulgate (W.E.B.) on guitars and Hel Pyre (Afterblood) on bass and vocals.
The sonic attack instigated by Christfuck with “HellGoat Militia” is, judging by their members, pretty much to be expected. Three songs of pure, full of hate, old school black metal and a cover of “Exiled Archangels”, a song originally by Rotting Christ, with Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan (Venom Inc., M: Pire of Evil) as a guest on vocals. Tree plus one tracks make up this release which, if I am to be honest, fills me with hope for both Christfuck’s and the Greek scene’s future.
Christfuck’s debut is an honest and worthwhile release, suitable for fans of the genre. Its duration is certainly short (it is an EP after all) but it will keep us on our toes until we are able to watch them live or until they release a full length album or even better…both.
