15th Album for the Netherlands Clan Of Xymox, 30 years of existence, one of the biggest bands of Dark Wave scene who started from the legendary 4AD!
*In the near future we’ll have tribute regarding the band and this label!*
The “Matters of Mind, Body & Soul” moving in the footsteps of ‘’Breaking Point ” (2006) and of”In love we trust ‘(2009), but that is several steps ahead, most comprehensive album. 12 tracks, between them three instrumentals:”Once in a Blue Moon” (intro), “Hector” & Chinese Whispers (Outro).
With Intro “Once in a Blue Moon” you understand the romantic and malancholic journey that you will soon follow for the next one hour, unless you grew route leaving the entire album to play again and again with the necessary accompanying that you prefer! Personally I let the CD playing 3 times in one night, to discover little by little the hidden diamonds of this release.
The tempo is subdued but fits perfect with the lyrical content! The album is quite melodic, romantic, atmospheric.Cliches are gone, is free, (goodbye to “hit”), the electric guitar is used to a minimum, but this in no way affects the result as well as electronic and physical instruments of their compositions cover completely .
The vocals from Ronny Moorings is sound cleaner and more sadly than before!
My mind traveled in those nice “4AD” years!
My Favorite tracks: “Hand in Glove”, “I close my eyes”, “I let you go”, “She is Falling in Love” and the instrumental “Once in a Blue Moon”(intro).
Enjoy!
