It’s truly difficult to write a few words about a band as Cock Sparrer. Not because their huge on selling rates or their high profile in show business, but because of their utter significance for punk rock and music in general. We’re talking about a band that was formed in 1972, when terms of “punk” and “oi!” were not in our dictionaries. Not even themselves knew they were landing the grounds of a genre of music that would affect the masses a few years later. So, coming to 2017, it’s been 10 years since the band’s last release and actually Cock Sparrer have returned better and more prepared than ever. Despite the fact that they’re 55+ years old, they managed to release one of the best albums of their career and I dare even say, one of the best albums in punk ever. Always with their style and their own identity, they travel us to the roads of England, their England, which they paved for themselves to walk. It’s a quality that if it were attached to any other band, the band itself would be boring as shit. When this quality is attributed to Cock Sparrer, it’s their actual core. Twelve tracks, produced by James Bragg and Daryl Smith have been released in vinyl format and CD via Chase The Ace Records in England, Randale Records for the rest of Europe and Pirates Press Records for the United States. It goes without saying that the fans of the genre should purchase this release with their eyes closed. The crowd’s affection towards this band is massive. Whoever attends their gigs, can distinguish this kind of love just by going in the venue. I believe “Forever” is a way of the band to say ‘Thank You’ for their fans’ support throughout all these years.
