Conspiracy – Crippled Invaders

Genre: Thrash / Crossover
Country: Greece
Label: Weird Face Productions
Year: 2016

The so-called ‘revival’ of the Thrash musical idiom in modern times, has produced several pieces of SHIT, to be frank. I’m talking about a plethora of records that they’re only good use would be to serve as Frisbees in summertime or plate to serve cockiest on. THANKFULLY , amidst all this mess of trite and un-unique, non characteristic music (music without personality, it is) a few bands sprang that managed to keep it real and really write Thrash metal that’s worth the candle. Conspiracy from Thessaloniki fall into that category . The band sprung in 2007. In the year 2016, and despite the fact that the band ceased to exist in 2012, Conspiracy in partnership with Weird Face Productions, released in May a reissue of their EP “Crippled Invaders”, with extra goodies on the side. For the record I should say that the “Crippled Invaders” EP was originally released by the band itself in November 2008, while in February 2010, it was released with a new cover via Athens Thrash Attack. This year’s edition includes all the pieces of the EP (including the cover of Black Obelisk), some new tracks, some live recordings and an extra cover on a track originally performed by Greek Punk act Antidrasi. Examining this release through a music spectrum, what we are dealing with is a mix of classic Crossover Thrash with some melodic outbursts at specific points. Conspiracy played aggressively, having violent character in both their track structures but also in the way they delivered. We are talking about a Thrash Metal delivery that follows European standards, with a preference to the German school, grafted with the riffraff that the Hardcore Thrash / Punk & Crossover scene of the West taught (i.e. Cro – Mags). The good thing with this re-issue is that apart from the ‘new’ songs that are included, “Crippled Invaders” comes with double inlay with lyrics and previously unreleased photos, while the cover has undergone some changes to colors and fonts. At the same time, a woven “Fuckfish” patch and a poster A3 is in the package. “Crippled Invaders” is a record that every enthusiast of Thrash Metal should listen, if not buy immediately.
