3 years since their last full length “Outcome of Obnoxious Science” should have been a lot of time but we were busy listening to the excellent in its rawness “Nippon Carnage – Live in Japan” live album (2020) and “Swollen with Rancid Phlegm” split with Night Hag (plus “In the Grip of Death” split with Ekpyrosis from 2019) so time has passed easily for all fans of Cryptic Brood. Now with the two track EP “Caustic Fetid Vomit” the Germans return emphatically. They sound morbid, evil, rough, dirty, filthy and with an underground feeling spread out in whole EP in its entirety… (less than 11 minutes, ok it’s not too long I know!). Great atmosphere, almost magical, full of darkness and with an organic sound that perfectly encapsulating what makes this German trio so characteristic. Nice ideas, powerful playing, in these dynamic two tracks (“Caustic Fetid Vomit” and “Grave Of The Brood”) of gruesome old-school death metal with the distinctive doomy parts and the energetic fast bursts here and there. Mixed and mastered by the infamous Marco Brinkmann at Hellforge Studio.
