You may say I’m romantic, you may say I’m a sucker; when ‘The Beginning of the End’ kicked in, I was excited. Instrumental ballad, that works as the album’s opener. It also has melodies / guitars that may remind you of Testament – the ‘80s era (God, what a band). You may now say, where do Dead by Wednesday and Testament meet? Nowhere. They are modern, with the usual balance between ripping and clean vocals. The riffs are groovy as well. Much of that 80s flavor is present, even though their executions are modern. Now that I’m significantly older, I listened the band’s whole effort. It’s easy – listening. It serves best as a background music while drinking your beer at a bar (since, whiskey or vodka are not preferred with this kind of record). Additionally, there are some hard core elements, as the promo suggests. I guess you don’t know what’s the real hard core that would slap your face. This is an album recorded and targeted for the American – friendly ears and radio shows. It’s ok, you might say, but it’s better to listen to them than others. The band’s got 11 frontmen, including Eric AK, John Arch, Rob Dukes and others. Eleffson digs them too. Bravo! In other words, it’s a release that wouldn’t cause an impact on you whether you listen to it or not. It lacks the soul and the guts that would make it pop. I’ll go listen to some Testament now… These modern stuff ain’t my cup of tea.
