To set my facts straight and don’t feed you with crap, I’ve never went deep into Deadlyforce, except for that “heavy metal” sticker I put on them. And you, yeah you, heavy-metaller, aspiring to go deep into the underground, you won’t find loads of info about the band. All you have to do is to listen to this EP. I think it’s enough. Two things; Portugal and heavy metal. You’ll think of Ironsword ,Midnight Priest and Ravensire. Oh you, fool. You will speak of Deadlyforce sometime down the road, I bet you will.
What we have to deal with is the first and only release of this band, entitled “From this Hell”, released in November 2014. It’s their first work, which in my humble opinion is a good omen for what’s to come. Five pieces of traditional, classic heavy metal tunes, with nice switches between fast and mid – tempo rhythms. Good guitar compositions, but not something that will rock your world. On the other hand, we have a fully skilled drummer, whose performance is neither just good enough nor pretentious. Nice tunes that hold everything together solidly. The vocals are imposing, crystal-clear and have a wide range. The frontman’s ease of moving back and forth on low and high – pitched vocals is apparent and gives character to the whole album. One more characteristic of the tracks is this feeling they cause, where you wanna shout “o heavens, that’s epic” and then suddenly realizing that none of the tracks exceed the 5 minutes limit. That’s what happens in “The Tunnels Beneath”, for example.
Generally, this is a record that manages to get you moving and feel the rhythm and who knows, to make you wanna search Deadlyforce to the core. It’s a solid release, with down to earth compositions and a clear sound. Without that vexatious attitude “waaah, man, listen to what I’ve just written”.
