After almost 30 years on music industry and a dozen years after their comeback Death Angel are here standing proud cherishing the values of the second wave of Thrash Metal. It’s no secret that the band is living a second youth especially after the 2009 line up changing. It’s not only the stable rhythm section that gave extra points to the band’s musicianship, it’s mostly the chemistry between the new members and the old guys that day after day and album after album that was getting stronger. “Relentless Retribution” and “The Dream Calls for Blood” are more or less similar when we are talking about song composition structure and were widely accepted by fans and critics. Once again no surprises here (except “Lost”), only titanic thrash that embraces the modern sound without losing any of its power or dynamic. Production wise Suecof helped Death Angel to write a solid record without trying to change the characteristic (dark) sound of the band. Wicked atmosphere, mature still angry – still high pitched vocals by Osegueda, suitable melodies, crushing riffs, brilliant solos, excellent hooks and memorable choruses, these are the ingredients of the album. And may “Lost” will be the touchstone of this release, but it wouldn’t be exaggeration to state that there are at least 4 songs that could have been hit singles in “Evil Divide”, “The Moth”, “Hatred United, United Hate”, “It Can’t Be This” & “Cause For Alarm”.  Album of the month definitely and probably in top lists of the year too.
