A strong comeback for the duo that hails from Norway, always faithful to their successful, as all seems, approach of more rock-less talk, they proved themselves workaholics and pretty ambitious upon releasing, on October of 2018, the Chained to Hell album. A title that meets the band’s service of degeneracy, honoring extreme sound since 2006, gives them any right to lance songs-anthems amongst speed metal/punk maniacs such as Tormentor, Black Speed Inferno, Chained to Hell and whatnot. It’s Evil, Hellish, giving away pictures of dungeons and medieval torture, what don’t you get? Still looking for something better to meditate on? From start to finish the record tends to move the listener to throw himselfin and out of fictional moshpits, shows its thirst for speed and beer drinking, hell raising and all that good stuff, whilst production wise seems very honest, as is the band’s playing style of course. I think Seargent Salsten and Sadomancer may had a little bit of Destruction in mind, some Aura Noir and some Motörhead of course, at some parts where their rock ‘n’ roll influences are more obvious. The pounding drums and the beaten-up vocals should leave any fan of the old-school sound craving for more, in which case I would point him towards the Savage Poser Hunt demo (what’s wrong with such a stereotypical title, right?) and the eponymous Evil Power that came before Chained to Hell. As the music of Deathhammer grows on me over the years, I start to praise this band for its highly consistent releases, with the last of them being no exception, keeping in mind their highly regarded work ethics.
