Deeds of Flesh is a legendary name for technical and brutal death metal. With their previous works, they marked the genre and once again the release of one of their albums is the talk of the town among genre worshippers. Nucleus is the title of their new album, and lyrically speaking it is a sci-fi themed album about all humans joining forces in order to fight an alien virus. A kind of joining forces as the album’s vocalists that gathered creating a multi collaboration that features many guest appearances such as Luc Lemay, Frank Mullen, Corpsegrinder, Decrepit Bill, John Gallagher, Luc Lemay and Dusty Boisjolie of Cannibal Corpse, Gorguts, Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Decrepit Birth fame. Truth been told no one could predict that after the tragic death of their guitarist/vocalist Erik Lindmark in 2018, that Deeds of Flesh would continue. Still 2 years after we are dealing with an excellent work based on Lindmark’s last ideas. Deed of Flesh actually stood against all odds delivering a really great album. Even Jacoby Kingston, bassist/ vocalist until 2005 and the Crown of Souls album, came out of retirement to sing for Nucleus, while in the album also appears drummer Mike Hamilton, guitarist Craig Peters, bassist Ivan Munguia, and drummer Darren Cesca, along with Decrepit Bill Robinson, Obie Flett, Anthony Trapani in Ascension Vortex, Luc Lemay in Catacombs of the Monolith, John Gallagher and Matt Sotelo in Nucleus , Matty Way, Frank Mullen and John Zig in Races Conjoined, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher in Ethereal Ancestors and Dusty Boisjolie and Robbe Kok in Terror. Musically speaking you can crush into a plethora of heavy riffs, uplifting soloing, guttural throating and of course a variety of ultra-violent blast beats, technical drum filling, furious arpeggios and manic thick bass lines.40 minutes of pure sci-fi hate with an optimistic optical on how humanity could beat a deadly virus…
