Maybe we are very lucky that the bands we have been raised with keep on recording albums and keep on touring. But think of how many recently released albums of the bands you have loved since you were a teenager are you listening to? The big band, in my eyes, is the one that, through the years, composes an album that is familiar to the glorious past. Destruction, unfortunately, don’t fall into this category (well, I hope they are not in this category yet!). The other two great German bands, Kreator and Sodom have released albums – masterpieces years after their well-known classics. Albums like ”M-16″ or “Enemy of God” are classics in the heart of the most metal fans. Destruction, since their comeback, back in 2000, they haven’t managed to release a great album; on contrary, they’ve released many bland or full of fillers. “Under Attack” is one of the same. Bad, plastic production as almost all Nuclear Blast releases the last years and Destruction’s of course (where is the magic sound of “Eternal Devastation” god damn it!), a childish artwork (where is the colossal level of “Infernal Overkill” or “Mad Butcher”) and a bunch of fillers again.
It is very sad for the band, which is still killing on their live shows, not to release an album to bring us rampage as the other two big German thrashing acts have done (and not only once). I am very strict, I know, but from bands-heroes like Destruction I demand much more. This year many great albums have been released already, check the new releases of Destroyer 666 or Suicidal Angels instead. Terrible, sorry.
