Drunkard is one of the groups that had the potential to become huge, based on the numbers of releases, though for many wrong reasons didn’t manage to “succeed”. At the same time mediocre bands or younger bands bearing mediocre albums (to be polite) face success and brand awareness. With 13 years of experience on their backs, Drunkard have nothing to prove, even though the younger thrash crowd need a bit more information about the band. As far as music goes, that’s where the gist is anyway, after the very good releases of2004’s “Hellish Metal Dominate” and 2009’s “Like Sin Explode”, the guys from Thessaloniki probably have released their best effort so far with “Inhale the Inferno”. And yes, it makes sense to wait for influences from Tankard, mainly because of the name but generally because of the German School we all Greeks worship. Additionally, you can hear several Slayer and Exodus in here and not only Sodom. Their differences with many bands, especially local ones, is that even though we hear their influences, there is a strong personal element, a thicker / solid sound, based on the riffs and not head banging, and a mixture of an old school feeling with modern sound. Also, a number of members of Sarissa, Acid Death, Released Anger, Resurgency, Birth Of ass, Vermillion Days, Raven Lord participate in this record, showing openness and giving a festive tone to the release. With only objection the missing “big” hit song that would augment the final score and give an extra boost to the album (something that Suicidal Angels do, for example), “Blood Red Scorn” (great riff), “Exterminate to Ashes”, “Exhale Your Demons “and the title track are the highlights of the release.
