Talking to the band: First of all you need a lot of spanking on your brow with a wet slipper for what you did to Rapid Fire. To the point now.
Drive, teenage boners, attitude are the first things you see in Excimer. They sound like they cross easily from the old American thrash of Exodus to Destruction, especially their most recent style. They also sound like they hear too much early Swedish death and their guitars tell all about it. All these sound nice with their vocals of the great Billy school giving one more plus to the whole thing. And this is where the negative starts.
They got no character and they jump from style to style like they got monks on their asses and when they finally land on neo-thrash the river takes them away. Their songs are boring, sounding the same and not because they don’t play something new but because they don’t play something inspired, part from seconds from Hell on Earth and Apocalypse. Top moment of this mediocre record is probably Curse of Seth with the guitar scales from their parts, that reminds classic moments of metallic Egyptology like Curse of The Pharaohs and all the references stop here. ‘Cause when you hear the first-album you expect something more than just “good moments” and looking back. The first album was rarely ever topped by the bands of this kind.
On the other hand it’s not a bad album, it’s an honest try but not a good one. Should we expect something better in the future or do we send in the terminator?
