The reason why Exumer are not included in the (un)holy trinity of German Thrash or in Teutonic Big 4 has to do only with quantity and not at all about quality. While their comrades in German scene had a stable and continuous presence in discography, despite their ups and downs, Exumer delivered 2 thrash gems in the 80’s, but after that they split up until 2008. This is a breaking point about Exumer we need to focus. So many band tried to for a reunion, some of them just want to give an excuse to their fans for touring/or giving some extra anniversary shows, and a few of them compose new albums. The last ones are a minority and only a few managed to write new albums as good as those back in their days. Exumer is one of these few reunited bands. With 3 studio albums, each one better than the previous one. You feel that they haven’t lost this sparkle in their eyes; A sparkle that it flares as years go by. To make a long story short I feel that Hostile Defiance is definitely their best album, from this second awakening of the band, and only time will tell if this could be another classic one just like their first two full-length studios. We are dealing with a record that is full of mega riffs containing 10 songs, all of the same top notch, that makes you wanna bang your head without mercy. A perfect way to start your contact with the band if you are a newbie with the genre or their sound! I have to mention as I bought the edition with the bonus tracks, that you should search for it as it features He’s a Woman – She’s a Man , a killer cover on Scorpions and Supposed to Rot, a cover on Entombed. Iit’s really hard to tell someone which track I loved the most as all of them are highlights and until I have the chance to hear these songs in one of their live performances I can only turn the volume to 11 and enjoy this killer!
