Genre: Death Metal/Crust
Country: U.S.A.
Label: Nuclear Blast Records
Year: 2023

Fuming Mouth after four years since their crhically acclaimed full-length debut “The Grand Descent”, return with a dozen of crusty hardcore based death metal dynamites that experiments new sounds on one hand but on other one (trying) to stay loyal to the band’s roots. While musically Fuming Mouth composed lengthier songs and use more often the mid tempo rhythms, they also try to sound more mainstream without losing any of their ferocity (and the Entombed-ish feel). Something not easy to do but their melodic side (with killer cuts) seems to win the stake on some details (but many of their fans are disappointed from this turn though) as their music (personally speaking) is still edgy with chugging grooves, the Slow. Burn tempos and Hardcore oriented structures that can stand proud next to works from Gatecreeper, Venom Prison, Nails, Black Breath, and Mammoth Grinder. Lyrically though they dare to be more ambitious as they actually write a concept album. A totally brave, but also risky if not dangerous decision. In the end of course the final result as the concept is indeed unique; an apocalyptic vision of a condemned world in a 24 hour darkness, a metaphoric story of the personal struggle that Fuming Mouth’s vocalist, and guitarist Mark Whelan’s victory upon cancer. As a conclusion the sophomore album is an attempt to push their creativity limits and walk outside the box , so I can see why some of their die-hard to be downhearted, but also new fans to start following them. Highlights: “Out Of Time”, “Respect And Blasphemy” and “I’ll Find You”.
