It’s one of those reviews that don’t need a truckload of words to convey its message. In 2013 five guys that loved the English Heavy Metal sound (and especially bands like Trident and Battleaxe) decided to form a band called Fyrecross and play something similar. Everything is as it should. Guitars full of melody, vocals full of bovver hitting the notes with ease, rockin’ solos fed with kerosene and a rhythm section that’s more than just satisfying. Elaborating on the compositions of the tracks, I found them “ripe” and on point. Personal favorite is the track “Widow’s Revenge” where speeds are rising, having as a result bands like Jaguar and Battleaxe popping up in our minds. From there on, “Dance of the witch” is a beautiful orchestral track and definitely deserves your attention (do not skip it!) along with the other two tracks of the EP “Heavy Metal Battles” and “Fyrecross” that have very strong moments (nice solo in “Heavy Metal Battles”). Overall, it’s a great release which should be definitely checked by enthusiasts of the genre.
