Gauntlet’s history is rooted somewhere in 2012; their only aim was to keep on conveying the heritage of the golden 80’s heavy metal era. A couple of years after their first attempt (the 2014 demo entitled ‘Break The Chains’) their debut with the title “Gauntlet” comes out and consists of 9 tracks that pay tribute to the late N.W.O.B.H.M. heroes and has all potential to become a favorite among the oldschool greek metal underground, a group of people known for their passion over heavy metal. Gauntlet’s influence by Iron Maiden’s early years is obvious here and there (e.g. on ‘Warriors’), while the band has shown it’s love for the British heavy metal scene of the late 70’s as well. In addition to that, some U.S heavy/power elements are heard on ‘Back On The Streets’ or ‘Tamer’, making the album a truly traditional, classic heavy metal worshipper release. The production is clean, without losing its cult and oldschool essence. For fans of Heathen’s Rage, Omen and Manilla Road. People that follow this genre, know what the band is about, since they are quite active at the Athenian underground stages, while most importantly, they carry a live performance at the side of Skyclad last April.
