Girlschool is back with their 13th album! One of the few bands from the NWOBHM that never quit, never gave up and never lost their edge is here. Guilty As Sin is the name of their latest record, produced by Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Anvil, Malmsteen etc) and I must say it’s the best they released since Screaming Blue Murder. What really is amazing is that the band doesn’t sound like a band that has a nearly 40 year history. No. They sound full of energy, they have songs that already should be considered classics (for their standards at least) and all the girls seem to be in a great shape. Take It Like A Band and Night Before which are the fastest songs on this album confirm all of the above. They also have some more melodic and catchy songs like Perfect Storm or Awkward Position and some more in-your-face rockers like the opener Come The Revolution or the title track. And they also have a cover of Staying Alive, which is pretty good. The rest of the songs go from boring to cute but if you ask ten people you’ll get ten different opinions about them. The fact that no one can overlook is that this album sounds so alive and heavy and will surely make you sing some of it’s songs during your can’t hear music activities. It’s also a lesson to some bands that balls isn’t always a privilege of men! Just listen to these ladies and you’ll see what I mean. Then again, if you’re in the same category with all those who believe that metal is man business, don’t bother listen to it cause it doesn’t matter. What really matters is that Girlschool is alive and kicking and this album will get them on the road, so don’t miss them for any reason cause this is what they do best.
