Grand Cadaver must be considered to be a supergroup or something, still not so many have been after it and despite the impressive lineup that features Dark Tranquillity‘s Mikael Stanne on vocal duties, drummer Daniel Liljekvist (In Mourning and Katatonia ), Stefan Lagergren (Tiamat and Expulsion), Alex Stjernfeldt (most recently of Let Them Hang, and Novarupta) and Christian Jansson (Pagandom, ex-Transport League). The group is born very recently, but the band’s style is anchored in the nineties’ old school death metal. Its members boast their fair share of combined experience.
Grand Cadaver don’t follow any different path from the many projects of the swede death revival have been created. Still the 4 songs have the quality to keep you interest and the near-thirteen-minute EP entitled Madness Comes is actually nothing innovating but 100% OSDM, 100% strong and solid tribute to the bands members past and influences.
A small dose of frozen death metal in the heat of 2021 summer is a nice proposition for your ears.
There will also be a 7″ single release of ‘Reign Through Fire’ and on the B-side there will be a cover of Nihilist’s/Entombed’s ‘Supposed to rot’. All in honor of the late LG Petrov (RIP). The B-side will be exclusive for the 7″ vinyl release! The 7″ is pressed in 666 copies and the pre-order will go live July 23rd and only available at Majestic Mountain Records BigCartel.
