Greek heavy rock pioneers 1000mods have just released the third single from their upcoming album, Cheat Death. Following two powerful tracks, the Sabbathic “Overthrown” and the ’90s punk rock-inspired anthem “Cheat Death,” the band is offering something distinct that heightens the excitement for their eagerly awaited fifth full-length release.
The track “Götzen Hammer” comes with a unique and unconventional music video reminiscent of cult B-movies and DIY cinema, produced by Kato Apo tin Patision and directed by Tassos Goletsos.
The new album will be released worldwide through Ouga Booga and the Mighty Oug Recordings, except in the U.S., where it will be distributed via Ripple Music.
“Götzen Hammer” is the most intense, gritty, and dark track released from Cheat Death so far. Featuring elements inspired by bands like Melvins, heavy guitars, aggressive drum parts with a mix of metal philosophy and tribal passages, the track has a mystic vibe, intensified by Dani’s haunting vocal melodies in the chorus. A special mention goes to Apollonia from Frenzee, whose vocals bring the song to a crescendo and is featured in the music video as well.

Pre-orders for Cheat Death continue on Ouga Booga Recordings’ website, though the limited yellow-red splatter vinyl edition sold out shortly after the release announcement.

The album was produced and mixed by long-time collaborator Matt Bayles (known for his work with Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis, Soundgarden) who also worked on their 2020 album Youth of Dissent. Recordings took place at the renowned Sierra Studios in Athens, with mastering by their frequent collaborator Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio in Portland, USA.
