Grenouer is a Russian band and has been active for the last three decades (since 1992). Their first releases, were mainly based on death metal paths but their 2007 album “Try” was a more experimental mainstream album. So, that was the time to change their style forever and play a weird mix of metal guitars, electronic synths, alternative rock and some kind of pop-rock vocals. This combination leads to their 8th full-length album, “Unwanted Today”.

The keyboard moments along with those of the guitar sounds make a well-hearing album with an unexpected nice-moody atmosphere. All this prog-style music is mixed up successfully with the spacey sounds and textures, but at the same time the intense bass and heavier guitar rhythms land you on earth, again. The constant beats on drums and the alternative rock attitude of Danny D give the appropriate energy to the most of the songs. Smoothy and harmonic vocals give sometimes a romantic feeling to the overall sense of their music and lead you in more relaxing moments. Additionally, melancholic vocals appear constantly during your hearing.

Generally, we could agree with the band’s members, who consider this album as “a soundtrack to an epic story of loss, struggle and resurgence” dressed up with melodic “feelings”, grooved sessions and sharp riffs. Maybe, these passages that Grenouer decided to follow some years ago are most suitable for them. One thing is sure; they haven’t said their last words yet!

Recommended Songs: “Unwanted Today”, “A Little too Obsessed”, “Going to Stay”, “Artificial Tears” and “Don’t Let them (Get you down).
