A little over a week ago people all over the world were gazing at the sky, to witness a partial solar eclipse. However, all the way in the North, in Norway or the remote Faroe Islands, people could observe a total solar eclipse. Faroese natives and doom metal outfit Hamferð played their song “Deyðir Varðar” live during the eclipse’s peak. Performing outside on a windy edge of one of the islands’ many cliffs, the band was slowly obscured from sight, as the eclipse covered the world in darkness. For a few moments, all we saw was the burning solar ring, while we were listening to the shivers-inducing song. Gradually, the light returned to uncover once again the breathtaking Faroese landscape. An amazing and original idea of Hamferð!
