A dozen of years ago Herman Frank of Accept fame (and later Victory) started his solo career. Since 2009, that he debuted with ‘Loyal to None’ he also released other three solo records that followed. This year’s ‘Two For a Lie’ marks his 5th studio album, and it comes again with the same team as Herman works again with singer Rick Altzi and bass player Michael Müller, while he enriched it with a new guitarist Mike Pesin and a new drummer Kevin Kott. The album has the same ingredients and the same formula that the Hamburg guitarist uses from his very beginning. It may sounds stubborn to many but still this is his way and it’s rather difficult to change now almost 40 years after…Heavy pounding riffs (actually tons of riffs), groovy rhythm, steady rhythm section, excellent solos, melodic vocal lines and sing along choruses. Of course the Judas Priest aura and the Accept vibe are way too present while sometimes the choruses bring in mind also Dio. Overall it is a decent album that is worth to listen even if you are not a fan of Frank (though his fans will love it), yet I won’t misjudge you if you find it repetitive or generic. I mostly enjoyed “Teutonic Order”, “Hate”, “Eye of the Storm” and “Hail the New Kings”. The album is already out since May 14th via AFM Records.
