When Taylor Nordberg and Jeramie Kling chose to name their new band after Massacre’s legendary 1992 EP “Inhuman Condition,” expectations were set sky-high. After all, both musicians, along with bass titan Terry Butler, had deep roots in the death metal flagship. For the past five years, Inhuman Condition has honored that old-school sound, but their third full-length, “Mind Trap,” is a clear signal that they are far more than just Massacre 2.0. This album ups the ante in every conceivable way. Mind Trap is the third full-length album from Florida’s Inhuman Condition, a supergroup featuring Jeramie Kling (Overkill, ex-Venom Inc, ex-Massacre), Taylor Nordberg (Deicide, Umbilicus, ex-Massacre), and Terry Butler (Obituary, ex-Death, Six Feet Under, Massacre). It will be out on June 27, 2025, via Listenable Insanity Records, and the album marks a significant step forward for the band, moving beyond their Massacre roots and solidifying their own identity in the death metal scene.
The album was mixed by Jeramie Kling and mastered by Taylor Nordberg at Smoke & Mirrors Productions in Spring Hill, Florida, ensuring a crisp, well-balanced sound that retains a raw edge. The production enhances the clarity of Kling’s gravelly, intelligible growls and the punch of Butler’s bass, while Nordberg’s guitar work delivers both razor-sharp riffs and searing solos.
The opening track, “Severely Lifeless,” sets the tone with a sense of existential dread and social commentary, a motif that runs throughout the album. Kling’s lyrics delve into humanity’s perpetual state of crisis and decay, reflecting on the futility and rot at the core of modern existence. Other tracks like “Face For Later,” “GodShip,” and “Mind | Tool | Weapon” continue this exploration of societal collapse, personal confinement, and the struggle for meaning.
Guitarist Taylor Nordberg notes that the band has finally moved past the shadow of Massacre, embracing their own identity and taking a more relaxed, organic approach to songwriting and recording. This comfort is evident in the album’s flow and cohesion, but the music never loses its hard-hitting edge.
The album features artwork by Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Alestorm), visually reinforcing the themes of entrapment and existential struggle that permeate the lyrics and music.

The album is visually striking as well, thanks to another eye-catching cover from Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Alestorm), which perfectly encapsulates the album’s themes and intensity.
“Mind Trap” is the sound of a band fully coming into its own. Inhuman Condition have not only stepped out from Massacre’s shadow—they’ve cast a formidable one of their own.
