Since Crobot are already a huge name in outter space, there’s only a bit of time left for all of you that haven’t heard their groovy sci-fi inspired storytelling. Check ’em out now.

Hi Crobot! Hope everythings going great for you. Please give us some more info and details about the new album? Where it was recorded? Who produced it? Which is the Fat City after all?

Welcome to Fat City is our latest effort recorded and produced in Texas with the Machine and mixed by Alan Moulder. Fat City is the safe haven for all intergalactic pirates and sleazeballs.

If we compare it to the previous and really adorable album Something Supernatural can we find any musical changes? Which are the differences between the 2 albums?

In this album, you’ll see more true gritty Crobot. The funk is funkier, the doom is doomy-er, and the riffs are riffy-er. We wanted to show our evolution on this record, so, attempting to create something profoundly different wasn’t on the agenda. We aren’t re-inventing the wheel, we’re just riffing on what makes us feel good and what comes naturally.

Welcome to Fat City has a rather peculiar artwork, a little bit to hippy or something. Which is responsible about it?

Bishop does all our artwork and it’s not too hippy. It’s always been incredible work that visually encapsulates the vibes of the album.

Lyrically you have been inspired by sci-fi. Is it once again the sci-fi, the major theme of the album?

Sci-fi…real life…is there really a difference? It usually just takes “reality” longer to catch up with sci-fi technology.

Have you ever thought of writing an album about Star Wars or any other classic sci-fi theme?

Yea but we’re pretty sure a little guy by the name of Walt Disney might frown upon that.

Or what about a concept album?

Since all our songs and albums are linked with the Crobot Universe, I think they could be considered concept albums

Musically which is your main inspiration? Can you name 5 albums that changed your life and probably affect your song writing?

Musically our main inspiration is to create. To try to attribute our inspiration to only 5 albums would be a waste and by next week they’d change anyway. We’re always looking for new good music.

Easy Money is a born to be a hit track. What are the lyrics talking about? “There you go, wanting more, never getting enough. There you go, chasing that easy money.” That’s it. Some corporate greed monger trying to get Fat pockets.

You are in a big label that has so many bands signed. Wouldnt be easier for you in a smaller label that has your band as a priority?

You know, I’m not sure. We are in the business of making music, not the music business. That’s like me asking you if it’d be easier to write for an independent blog or for Rolling Stone magazine. Sure every article on your Indy blog gets “published” but who reads it? As many as a Rolling Stone article?

The Legend of the Spaceborne Killer is not easy to find, is it in your plans to re-release it via Nuclear Blast?

No that was a demo recorded with a previous lineup in the band. I think we all feel we’ve evolved from that pre-era of Crobot.

As your live performances are a strong card for the band, do you feel that there is enough material in order to record a live album?

Yea of course. We have 2 full length albums out. How many do you need for a live album?

Where do you see Crobot in 10 years from now?

Live on a Moonbase making moon riffs, moon babies, and moon millions there. We’re already super famous there.

Any tour plans including Europe and more specific Greece?

Europe yes. Oct-Nov with Volbeat and Airbourne but not Greece, sorry.

The closing is yours

Love our band or we’ll be upset with your life decisions.
