– So, long time no see guys. It’s been eleven years from the “Fuck Up Behaviour” ep. I mean there are actually people that are still into dirty and filthy metal that need you! What took you so long?
Well, we’ve been doing the same things as always I suppose… Drinking, fucking up in various ways and listening to early Raven… All of a sudden in a drunken haze somebody remembered that we had a band, so we headed back to the rehearsal-place and started making new songs.
– What happend to Ronnie Ripper? Die hard fans, like me, miss this fucker a lot. Not intenting any bad words about Knuckleduster. The kid smokes! I thing he did a great job as far as the composing and the lyrics are concerned.
He quit the band to focus on other things. Knuckleduster fits the band just perfect, he´s a fucking menace!
– I think the ep is one hell of a work. Did you actually recorded it in just one evening? It sounds to damn raw and professional at the same time.
Thanx! Yeah, we recorded the fucker in a day. We never been the kind of band that spends more time then necessary in the studio… the lure of the pub is too strong!
– I gotta tell you the lyrics of the title track are a masterpiece. I myself hate everything mentioned in this song. So, did Gehennah got that good to play Venom covers as the years passed by? And are they actually THAT pissed off with all that shit they describe on the “Metal Police” track? Please, I NEED a “yes” (hehehe).
Gehennah has never been talented enough to play Venom covers, and never will be. Of course we’re pissed off! Metal is serious stuff and should be handled with the care it deserves. You can’t just start a band and bring in a bunch of keyboards and other fancy bullshit. No guitar lessons in the world are gonna teach you how to bang your head. Metal belongs in the streets, not in school.
– Any planned gigs outside Sweden? I know it’s a long shot but i just have to ask this. Greece? Any plans for a gig here?
Yeah, we hope to do lots of shows outside of Sweden soon. Greece is high on the list as we’ve never been there and the metal people there seem fucking cool!
– Going down memories lane it’s 1996 and i grab a piece of the “King Of The Sidewalk” lp. Needless to say it blows my fuckin’ brains out (i think to this day that it’s the best ’90s metal lp) and i find my new heroes going against the grain by playing dirty and obnoxious metal. How were the “Osmose” years? Did you have any contact with fellow bangers like Inferno or Impaled Nazarene (both Osmose acts at that time)?
We did a european tour with Impaled Nazarene back in ’96, that was a fucking blast. Great guys! Met them again a few years ago when we played together in our hometown. Still a cool fucking bunch, and a great fucking band. Don´t think we ever met the Infernö-people, but we had contact with them and are big fans of their recordings. Killer stuff!
– From “Piss Of i’m drinking” to “Tough Guys Don’t look good” to “Merry Shitmass” to “666 drunks and rock’n’roll” to “Bleed you bastards” and, finally to the “Life Of Crime”, i see the kind of lyrics that put a smile on my face and a fist on a hipster’s face. How come? Are you trying just to be funny or being provocative is also in the menu?
All our lyrics are extremely serious. Extremely.
– Is the new line up steady and ready to roll? Tell me that we won’t have to wait for another decade, plus, for some new stuff.
Fuck yeah, we are 100% back, and writing songs for an upcoming album at the moment. No more relaxing, it´s time to get to fucking work.
– That’s it guys. As a die hard fan i could go on and on and ask you stuff about demos, drunken nights (i’m sure there were a lot) and fist fights but i’d rather keep short.
