Omega Sanctum has been unleashed upon the world and we managed, after escaping from its claws, to contact Giannis Nakos!

Welcome to Metal Invader!

Nice to meet you!

Tell us a few words about Procreate.

It’s a bleak tale, since we had a hard for the album to see the light of day. Members arrived and departed, the album needed to be re-recorded from the beginning to take its final form. Well, what’s done is done, and after all the best understanding is among the two remaining members, so that is how the band will stay. After three whole years of tribulation…

Lately Omega Sanctum, which is your first full length work, can be found around. What are your feelings towards this release and what is the feedback from the fans?

Well, our own feelings about the result are surely great, especially since we got the cd in our grasp. There were times that we doubted that we would make it through (for many reasons), still everything has taken shape. The people’s response to the album is hopelessly good. We get feedback from all the corners of the planet and it’s 99% positive. We never expected this would be such a success haha! This is definitely something prompting us to level up next time.

I can say that the record is steely, with very good production and even better guitar ideas. Moreover, the vocals really kill. Did you expect a different result or was it just as expected?

Damn it, thanks for your words, we are really happy that you enjoy the album! Stelios’ work in the sound department gave a great boost to the final outcome and we are more than pleased with his work. Many of the vocal ideas were put in the album on the eleventh hour, on top of the tracks that Sotiris had already crafted. Then, when samples from the master were brought to us by Stelios, we were stunned! 100% what we aimed for!

What is the song writing process? I mean, does Sotiris (guitars) first compose and then, after listening to the song along with you move on to its completion?

Sotiris prepares the songs himself and then I place the vocals on top of them. I am a fan of his ideas, I believe he writes solid songs, that lack neither “atmosphere” nor the right feeling. Well, the procedure is pretty plain, I don’t have anything really exciting to add!

You are two members in the band. Are there any disagreements amongst you or do you get along perfectly?

We have our little arguments but it always concerns things of very minor importance. When it comes to music, we are always cool with each other and we always get along just fine. Looking back now, it is really very impressive how easily the songs did evolve, until they took their final form. A great deal of praise should be given to Sotiris that did such a great job setting up the songs.

In the past, last year if I can recall, you had announced your appearance at the Greek Death Grind Fest. Is there any chance that we will see you live in the future or will you remain a studio band?

Yes, an announcement had been made, still the Greek army had different plans for us… The line-up was also different, hard to communicate with each other… though we had performed in one unique live with an Italian hardcore band and our friends One Of These Days among others. We can’t rule out anything, to be honest, still that would take time for rehearsals. Everything is possible, you never know.

The truth is that the Greek scene is on the rise for good. What is your opinion about Greek bands? Are there any that you especially like or that have released something lately that left you speechless?

There is a lot of discussion about that lately, but it’s not an exaggeration. The level is on the rise and that is really promising. I read a lot of bitching here and there about the huge competition etc, but all I witness is people producing new stuff and having lots of fun. I don’t know if I’m some kind of a hippie but I only look at the positive side of things. I am a romantic when it comes to music, I only keep the positive shit=music and good friends. From the recent releases, I really digged on the new Karma Violens, Aceptic Goitre, Incineration’s split, which demonstrated a band that was very improved, as well as the new Deacidified demo! We are impatiently waiting for the new Erectus’ work and we also have (to speak of our own) the Womb Of Maggots & Mortal Torment albums coming up. Now, regarding bands that I would pick out, if I got started you would need to scroll down. A simple visit at the Greek Death/Grind Scene page could give an idea to everyone about what’s going on out there.

There is a lot of talk that, generally in Greece, you can’t achieve much unless you know the right people in the major cities and and and… What’s your view on the subject?

I can’t overlook the fact that distance is the major setback in such issues. It is easier for me that I live in Athens to schedule a live appearance in comparison with a band from Trikala, for instance. However, I know many bands that never get weary and will give live shows in every possible place all around the country and that is very motivational. Now, the “achieve much” issue is rather subjective. One plays music to rock ’n’ roll and to get a kick out of it (at least in my pov), so, if one has the aspiration to make music his profession or other similar goals, then money and location (Greece-Europe) will play a major role. It all ends up to what one’s goals are all about.

How can one get hold of your album?

That’s easy, just sent a message in our fb page, or get it from our big cartel!

Thank you for your time, the epilogue is yours…

Thank you for your time and page space. Give a chance to the local scene and you will find stuff you were unaware of and which you will enjoy 1000%. Finally: Religion is the poison.
