Misanthropy Apotheosis was created in August 2017 by Kydoimos (Humanity Zero, ex-Intentional Manslaughter, ex-Chamber Of Horrors) on vocals and Dimon’s Night (Humanity Zero, Inhibitions, Horrorgraphy, ex-Dementia, ex-Buried Emotion, ex -Heathedom etc.) on guitars, bass and drums. Almost immediately we started working on the material that would be our debut album. About a year later, on August 15, 2018, this material was released under the title «Black Death Euphoria» and was well received. There was a period of silence on our part and now we are back with our new EP «Against Your Filthy Kind».
What made you start a band?
Our pure love for Death Metal and a really strong urge to highlight the animal side of human nature led us to form Misanthropy Apotheosis.
How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is a mixture of everything obscure and bulldozing. Sickness and delirious brutality prevail in our releases. Our style is an amalgam of sound stimuli that we have received over the years as listeners who have experienced and continue to experience the philosophy of Death Metal. Our influences come from the whole range of Death Metal, mainly from the period 1987-1995. However, we are not interested in reproducing the sound of that time, as we feel the need to create something of our own.
Apparently old school death metal refuses to lose its relevance. What do you think is the reason for that?
The old school death metal sound is so unique… Raw, brutal, uncompromised… It’s the true essence of everything sick and obscure and not for sensitive listeners. Obscurity attracts people, you know.
Who is responsible for the music and the lyrics, I mean which is the song-writing approaching of Misanthropy Apotheosis?
I, Kydoimos, am responsible for the lyrics of the compositions and Dimon’s Night is responsible the music. From there on, we discuss about the orchestrations and the structure of the songs in general, until we come to their final form. Then, the recording sessions begin.
What motivates you and what things are inspiring you?
Our loathing for the human race motivates us, the state and quality of the human nature… We strongly believe that, If there was no fear of punishment by law, humans would have killed each other. We are animals and we work on instincts.
Speaking of inspiration, your lyrics are strong, but how important are to your music?
Our lyrical content is an expression of our inner thoughts and feelings, so it’s as important as our music. The lyrics must fit the music and vice versa. It’s some kind of extreme and sick poetry and not just empty words thrown on a piece of paper. Read the lyrics while you listen to the music and you’ll see what I mean.
What are you passionate about besides music?
Working out, dark literature and poetry, philosophy, history, serial killers, darkness…
You have just released one EP; what comes next?
Our label Repulsive Echo is going to release the «Against Your Filthy Kind» ep on digipack cd format on November 7th 2020. But our aforementioned ep is an appetizer for our second full album. So, 2021 is the year we’re going to unleash our new sermon of hate entitled «Crush The Mask Of Virtue» via Repulsive Echo Records. Our new album is faster and deeper…a maniacal piece of cruelty.
How important is to have a label that believes in your vision?
It’s really important, you know. Kostas, the man behind Repulsive Echo Records, has a great love for quality Death Metal. He understands our point of view and the band’s philosophy and he is truly supportive. There is no interference on our music. There is mutual respect between Misanthropy Apotheosis and Repulsive Echo.
Do you think there is a future for bands making old school underground metal in the present day?
There is no Metal without the Underground because the Underground Scene is the uterus that gives birth to everything and keeps Metal alive. As long as there are bands willing to play old school underground metal, the scene will keep thriving.
A small comment about the Hellenic scene.
A lot of passionate bands playing all kinds of metal. Fans should be more supportive.
After covid-19 mania are there any plans for a tour?
This is not in our immediate plans. But you never know what the future holds.
